Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal directed the authorities to use space technology for the projects in CPEC in order to see their planned execution. He said that, “Accurate research and new technology based solutions are required to monitor mega development projects for their timely completion.”
The minister also requested help from SUPARCO. He added that monitoring and execution of the development projects was a main function of the Planning Commission and the department should do its best to keep an eye on the project. The quarterly reviews and release of funds should be linked to the monitoring reports of the project said the minister.
Emphasis was also laid on the monitoring systems enhancement. Any delay in projects would result in wastage of resources and would have an adverse on the economy as well. He added that, “We don’t need archives but information for decision making.”
Monitoring outcomes could be used for making training programs for Pakistan Planning and Management Institute (PPMI) in order to improve and enhance the expertise in project management.
