Lahore: The Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that under the Punjab government the vision of investing in future of the country, 50 boy and girl students are going abroad for PhD in the best universities along with 130 students leaving for China for learning Chinese have been selected purely on merit basis.
These talented people had gotten scholarships on the basis of their hard work and without any favoritism, collusion or bribe. Shahbaz said these students on their return to Pakistan would play an active role in progress and prosperity of the country. He said all this while addressing a function with connection with Chief Minister’s Chinese Language Scholarship Program, Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarship Program and to honor the 18 students obtaining more than 500 marks out of 505 in 9th class examination at the Chief Minister’s office.
Chief Minister congratulated the students going abroad for PhD and learning Chinese language besides those who got outstanding marks in 9th class examination. Laptops were given to all the students.
The Punjab government was sending 500 boys and girls to China on its expenses for learning the Chinese language. He said the first batch of 66 boys and girls were already learning the Chinese language in Beijing and the new batch of 130 students would soon leave for China.
33 students had also been selected for PhD in leading universities of the world which included Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial University, National University Singapore and various others.
Chinese Consul General Yu Boren said Shahbaz Sharif was equally popular in Chinese leadership and people as he was in the Pakistani masses. He said Shahbaz Sharif was a man of action and his vision for the uplift of education sector was commendable. He said work was being carried out speedily on CPEC projects in Punjab.
300 megawatt solar power project had been completed expeditiously at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur, 65 percent civil work of 1,320 megawatts coal power project in Sahiwal had also been completed and the overall project would be completed in the middle of 2017.
Work was also in progress expeditiously on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project and it was hoped that it would also be finished within time. Yu Boren said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s names would always be remembered for taking Pak-China friendship to new heights.
