Criticism On CPEC Would Effect Progress And Development Of Pak: Experts

Peshawar: Politicians and academicians of Khyber Pakthunkhwa have said that unnecessary criticism on the western route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC) was tantamount to impede progress and development of Pakistan.

They said the rejected politicians in Khyber Pakthunkhwa are coming out to mislead people on CPEC by raising unjustified controversies on the western route of the project and wanted to make it controversial like Kalabagh dam on behest of their foreign masters.

Sardar Aurangzaib Nalota, Parliamentary Leader of PMLN in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly said that the enemy of Pakistan did not want success of CPEC and unnecessary criticism on it would lead to strengthen the hand of adversaries of the country.

He said people from Karachi to Peshawar and Gawadar to Chitral were on the same page regarding CPEC and would not let any negative attempts and designs succeed against this game changer project.

The PMLN leader said a huge direct foreign investment of $46 billion came to Pakistan after a long time due to the economic policies of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and political cohesion was required for successful implementation of CPEC.

Under CPEC, China will invest about $34 billion in thermal, solar and wind power generation facilities and projects which would help deal with the energy and infrastructure problems which will in turn result in the country’s economic growth with visible and real economic benefits.

Countries which made rapid progress and development encouraged direct foreign investment as their Governments, political leadership and economists knew that foreign investment may go to other countries in case of unnecessary criticism on foreign funded projects and political instability, he said.

The PMLN leader said if any politicians or political parties have any reservations over western route of CPEC they should contact the Ministry of Planning, Development and National Reforms for addressing their complaints. He said criticism on western route of CPEC should be avoided in the national interest of the country.

Prof Dr Naushad Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Islamia College University and an expert on CPEC said that negative criticism and propaganda by certain quarters on CPEC should be avoided and unity and cohesion must be demonstrated for successful implementation of this goal oriented project for the bright future of the upcoming generation.

He said anti Pakistan lobby was against CPEC project as they did not want progress and prosperity in the country and were making efforts to sabotage the project, adding that unnecessary criticism against the project would lead to strengthening the hands of anti Pakistan forces.

He said CPEC carried immense important for Pakistan as it would make our eastern and western border safe and secure from external aggression.

Dr Naushad said the 3,218 kilometers long route connecting Kashgar China Western Xinjiang region to the port of Gwadar in Balochistan would be monitored through satellite for security point of view and all Pakistan’s borders linking with Afghanistan, Iran, India and China would also be watched to avert the nefarious designs of enemies.
