German Companies Interested To Invest In CPEC

Islamabad: German companies have contacted Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir and expressed their willingness to invest in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The companies said that they would be more than willing to invest in CPEC however the government needs to relax their policies in terms of investment of tariffs and taxation just like they’ve done for China.

The companies said that they would like to invest in energy related projects in CPEC and the free trade zones.

Dastgir appreciated Germany’s interest and said that Chinese companies enjoyed incentives in Pakistan due to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between both the countries. He said however, that if Germany wants to have the same privileges as China then both the countries can move to FTA from GSP Plus so that investment can be made easier for them.
