PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhawa’s long term plans for economic development would be considered in alignment with China Pakistan Economic Corridor infrastructural projects, so that the province derives maximum benefits from such once in a millennium opportunity. This statement was issued after a meeting of KP Advisory Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) held at CM’s Secretariat on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Ghulam Dastgir. Officials of the provincial government, KP Board of Investment and Trade, K-P Economic Zones Development and Management Company were also in attendance during the meeting.
The handout issued by the committee further said that the province would continue to pursue meaningful, carefully considered infrastructural projects for execution as part of CPEC programme. To accelerate KP’s economic development, steps will be taken to operationalise the province’s mining policy, tourism policy and industrial policy, the meeting participants agreed. The KP Advisory Committee on CPEC will also engage various trade bodies, district bodies and the public on various forums to exchange ideas that can become part of the plans.
