A delegation led by Vice Chairman China First Metallurgy Group, Guo Jizhou met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here on Thursday. Chinese group expressed keen interest in investment in water sector of Punjab.
Talking to the delegation, the Chief Minister said that CPEC had given new dimension to Pak-China friendship and China was fully supporting Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. He said that work was being carried out speedily on the projects throughout Pakistan under CPEC. Energy projects were going to complete in a record period under CPEC and economic corridor project would change the destiny of the region including Pakistan, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that there were vast opportunities of investment in Punjab. He welcomed interest in investment in improvement of water sector by Chinese investors. He said that Chinese group should consider cooperation for improvement in industrial waste treatment, sanitation and sewerage. He directed to constitute a high-level committee, which would present practicable recommendations after reviewing the proposal of Chinese investors.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chairman Chinese Group said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had played an exemplary role for strengthening Pak-China friendship. He said that he was pleased on speedy and transparent completion of projects under CPEC. He said that cooperation would be promoted with Punjab government in water sector. Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Secretary Irrigation, Chairman Planning & Development, Chief Executive Officer Punjab Saaf Pani Company, Commissioner Lahore Division and concerned officials were present on the occasion.
