ISLAMABAD: The intelligence bureau of Pakistan on Tuesday revealed that Indian spy agency RAW and Afghan agency NDS had formed a nexus with banned Tehreek e Taliban and East Turkmenistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) to Sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The chief of intelligence bureau Aftab Sultan appeared before the Senate Standing Committee Chaired by Senator Talha Mehmood and apprised the members about designs of terrorist outfits against CPEC. He informed the committee that intelligence bureau had thwarted a number of terrorist attacks and arrested over 5,000 terrorists and their supporters during intelligence-based operations in the country. He revealed that some agents of RAW and NDS were also among the arrested persons. The nexus of the spy agencies of enemy countries wanted to damage the mega project and IB was after them to foil their malicious designs, he told. DG IB also informed the committee that China was also under threat from these agencies due to CPEC.
Chief of the IB said that his agency was entrusted with the task of CPEC security and his organization was also providing security to Chinese officials working at CPEC projects. He further said that Special Armed Forces had also been trained and deployed for the security of CPEC.
