Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Raja Amer Iqbal has said that the political parties should show maturity on mega project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and shouldn’t politicize it.
RCCI president urged the government to include Rawalpindi in the CPEC because due to its location the city had the potential for establishing cold storages, goods transportation and warehouses to carry out the project at much faster pace.
He said that Rawalpindi was a hub of trade involving Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and had road and rail network with various parts of the country.
Highlighting the prospects for the technical manpower, he said that when industrial and trade activities would enhance under the CPEC project it would pave the way for employment opportunities for thousands of people.
He reiterated that the CPEC project must be kept away from politics so all the political groups should show mature approach and avoid making it controversial for the benefit of the people of this region. He maintained that CPEC was a mega development initiative regarded as a game changer for Pakistan and the region as well. The CPEC showed the height of an eternal friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China and would serve as a lifeline for our economy.
